It’s election time!
Elections are an exciting time of year – it’s when you are able to decide who will represent you as Interim CSA President.
During the election candidates will be asking for your vote to help them become your elected representative.
The candidates standing for election as Interim CSA President are as follows. Click on a candidate’s name to see their manifesto.
WHY IS THIS AN INTERIM POSITION?
In March the CSA AGM approved changes in the CSA’s representational structure which will come into force for October 2025 elections. This role is therefore an interim position to bridge the gap running from 5th May until 31st October.
VOTING INFORMATION
Voting will be online via a link emailed to your Cranfield email address at 16.00 on 30th April. Voting will be live until 14.00 Friday 2nd May. The subject title of the email will be ‘CSA Elections 2025 – Your Online Voting Link’. This email contains your unique link to the voting area so it’s important to look out for it.
Read the instructions carefully and then make your votes. Remember, you can only record your vote once (once it is submitted then it is complete) so it is important you take the time to read the candidate manifestos beforehand to decide who you will vote for. Once you start voting, you must complete the process as you will not be allowed to start again once you have left the voting area.
As in all CSA elections, there will be the option of voting for Re-Open Nominations as an alternative option.
This election is run by the Single Transferable Vote (STV) method.
The count will take place on Friday 2nd May and the results will be announced on the mycsa.org.uk website.
What to expect during election season:
• Candidates will approach you to ask you to vote for them. This could happen on a bus, outside the library or in a shop.
• They will give you information about why you might want to vote for them
• It is up to you to give each candidate a fair chance by reading their manifestos and deciding who you would like to vote for.
What shouldn’t happen:
• The candidate should never vote on your behalf – that is electoral fraud.
• Candidates should never threaten or intimidate you to vote for them. If this happens you can send a complaint to your CSA.
Why should I vote?
Voting is really easy online but if you need reasons why you should, here are a few:
It is simple and could make a big difference to students’ lives. Even if you can’t see a benefit for yourself, all the candidates have shown a great deal of enthusiasm, passion and determination. By taking a few minutes to vote, you could help them achieve their goal: making a difference to the lives of Cranfield University students.
And, most importantly, the more students who vote, the stronger the CSA’s voice will be in representing students.
